Blog Supporting Speech, Confidence, and Growth with Speech of Cake

At Neelcamp, we partner with educators and program leaders who are making a real difference in their communities. From thoughtfully designed programs to supportive learning environments, these providers help children grow in confidence while giving families meaningful opportunities to support their development. We recently had the opportunity to speak with Phoebe, Chief Clinical Officer at Speech of Cake, a pediatric speech therapy practice that supports children in developing speech, language, and literacy skills. Alongside year round therapy, they also run engaging summer programs designed to help children strengthen important communication skills while having fun and connecting with peers. We asked Phoebe a few questions about their programs, their mission, and what being part of Neelcamp means to them.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us. Can you share a brief overview of your organization and the types of programs or camps Speech of Cake offer for families?
"Speech of Cake is a pediatric speech therapy practice that supports children in developing speech, language, and literacy skills. Alongside year-round individual therapy sessions, we offer two summer programs that combine evidence-based practices with hands-on, interactive activities, helping kids practice important communication and literacy skills while having fun and connecting with peers.
Our Summer Enrichment Program is for rising kindergarteners through rising second graders and focuses on building speech, language, reading, writing, and social skills in a playful, engaging environment. Our Summer Intensive Program is for rising third through fifth graders and uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to strengthen reading and writing skills in a focused, supportive setting."
What is the mission or vision behind your programs, and what do you hope children and parents gain from participating?
"Speech of Cake is dedicated to helping children build strong communication and literacy skills that they can carry with them beyond summer camp and into the school year. Our programs give each child the support they need in a way that’s meaningful, personalized, and still lighthearted, because summer camp should be fun! We hope our students leave feeling more confident in their communication and literacy skills, and that parents come away with practical tools, insights, and reassurance as they support their child’s growth."
How does having your programs listed on Neelcamp help you present your offerings to parents in one place?
"Having our programs listed on Neelcamp makes it simple for families to see everything we offer in one place. Parents can quickly get a sense of what we do, who our programs are for, and what makes them unique. It’s a great way to connect families with programs that fit their child’s needs and interests."
What does being an early provider partner on Neelcamp mean to you as a program organizer?
"Being an early provider partner on Neelcamp is exciting because it gives us a chance to be part of a platform that makes it easier for families to find high-quality programs for their kids. We love working with platforms that prioritize accessibility and make specialized programs easy to explore. It’s also rewarding to be involved early and help shape a resource that supports both families and providers."
What message would you like to share with parents who are exploring camps and activities through Neelcamp?
"If you’re exploring camps and activities on Neelcamp, we encourage you to look for programs that match your child’s interests and needs. The right program can help build skills, boost confidence, and create joyful learning experiences that carry beyond the summer and into the school year."
