GRIT NeXt LeVel is a longer and more intense program that is a progression for GRIT players who are working hard to master the skills we are teaching and who the coaches feel are ready to take on more advanced curriculum. Ideally players will have participate in GRIT previous summers. Designed for Squirt/ U10- High School/ U16 players who have a strong desire to reach a higher level of competition and skill development. This program is Co-Ed. Athletes must be cooperative, attentive, disciplined, and good teammates, and are ready to take their training to the NeXt LeVel. Players must be able to follow instructions and focus on training for the 3.5 hour day and not be a distraction or disruptive. Players must also be able to change quickly in and out of their gear and be able to tie their own skates, with little or no help. Coaches will help, but will push players to do it on their own, as the summer progresses. A total of 32 hours on ice instruction focusing on advanced skill development, power skating, and advanced edge work. A total of 24 hours off ice instruction focusing on shooting, stick handling, functional movement, flexibility, balance, and speed. Our 8-week program is designed to be progressive, every 2 weeks the curriculum becomes more difficult and is designed to continuously challenge the player to push their limits, and train outside of their comfort zone. Training for 8 weeks consistently, and with skill progression, develops muscle/ brain memory and correct form, at a young age. The intent is that as the players grow; and get bigger, faster, and stronger, they are using correct technique and not forming bad habits that will be difficult to reverse when they are older. Players receive team work out gear, jersey, and socks. Space is limited due to the low coach to player ratio. Registration is first come, first serve. Training will be held at Wessman Arena, home of the GRIT Hockey Club. Train to Train NeXt LeVel - Squirt/ U10 Tues/Thurs 12:15p-3:45p Train to Train NeXt LeVel - Peewee/ U12 Tues/Thurs 9:45am-1:15pm
