The Alliance promotes safety, support, and healthy development for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) youth in Illinois through advocacy, education, youth organizing, and professional development. Action Camp, brought to life by PHIMC's Alliance program and Youth Services' Pride Youth program, is a bold step toward the inclusive, empowering world that LGBTQ+ young people are ready to build. It is described as a 'magical' space where young people see their identities reflected, refine their critical perspectives, strengthen their anti-oppressive frameworks, engage in active skill-sharing, and practice creating inclusive spaces where all identities are safe, supported, affirmed, and celebrated. Campers have expressed feeling they could truly be themselves and that it is the highlight of their summer.
