About This Camp

Overview

Bloom into School is a one‑week program (3 hours per day) designed to help children build the social, emotional, and practical skills they need for a confident start to school. Led by experienced Occupational Therapist Nichole Towers, OTR/L, in collaboration with Shenandoah University, children learn through hands‑on activities, games, and group experiences to develop and strengthen developmental skills while learning to work with others. We will practice routines like attendance/circle time, lunchtime, specials and bathroom breaks in a playful, supportive environment that fosters confidence.

This program seeks to:

  • introduce school‑day routines
  • develop peer relationships
  • master transitions
  • initiate and sustain cooperative play
  • expand social‑communication, sensory and motor skill development

Additional Information

All groups are led by a pediatric occupational therapist together with Masters‑level occupational therapy students, maintaining at least a 2:1 student‑to‑teacher ratio. An initial questionnaire may be required to ensure the program is well‑matched to each child's needs and abilities. The facility is a socks‑on, shoes‑off space; guests may bring clean indoor shoes or slippers.
