Building Personal Resilience™ – Heart of Synergy

About This Camp
Heart of Synergy is a private educational services practice in Falls Church, Virginia, founded by special education expert Jessica Marie Phelps. Its flagship program, Building Personal Resilience™, is a HeartMath®-certified, science-based mentoring program for school-aged children that teaches practical techniques to regulate heart rhythm patterns and improve heart-brain communication. Through heart coherence — a synchronized state between the heart and brain — students learn to identify and transform depleting emotions such as stress, anxiety, frustration, and anger into renewing energy. The result is measurable improvements in self-regulation, decision-making, social awareness, academic performance, and overall resilience. Sessions are age-adapted and delivered by HeartMath® Certified Mentors and Practitioners with clinical backgrounds.
The program runs for 6 to 8 individual sessions of 45 to 60 minutes each, with maintenance sessions available afterward. Sessions are conducted in-person at the Falls Church office or virtually. Biometric technology (Inner Balance™ Monitor) is used during sessions to track heart rhythm patterns in real time and is also available for purchase.
Session topics include Resilience, Stress vs. Stressor, Identifying Emotional States, Heart and Brain Connection, Heart Coherence, Heart Rate Variability Patterns, Heart Coherence Techniques, Coherent Communication, People Relationships, Drama Management, and Decision Making.
Outcomes include improved self-regulation, impulse control, test scores, academic and sports performance, interpersonal relationships, and reduced anxiety, stress, and anger.
