Join us to explore the world of music in a collaborative group through movement, stories, songs, and instrument play. Each day will consist of three segments: Story Time, Meet the Instruments, and Ukulele Time. During all three segments, students will explore the basic elements of musicianship, including beat, rhythm, and melody and tap into their creativity. All activities will engage students in active music making and foster fundamental music and literacy skills. All throughout the week, campers will have multiple opportunities to build self-confidence, self-expression, and social skills. The camp will culminate in a recorded performance featuring all elements explored during camp. Throughout the week, campers will explore favorite children's books through music, create their own movements, dances, and sound effects to represent stories, learn two-, three-, and four-chord songs on ukulele, compose their own song as a class, experience the beautiful sound possibilities of various instruments, practice collaborative creation and performance, and take daily breaks at the park, weather permitting. Students will learn the basic elements of musicianship, including beat, rhythm, and melody, simple strumming patterns on the ukulele, 2 or three basic chords on the ukulele, preparation and presentation skills, and collaboration skills.
