Overview

The Early Learning Center (ELC) provides high-quality, affordable childcare and early education for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in Alexandria, VA. For 30 years, the ELC has delivered a play-based, curriculum-driven program aligned with Virginia's Early Learning and Development Standards and guided by the Creative Curriculum and the Environmental Rating Scale.

Classrooms are led by licensed early childhood teachers who exceed state training requirements. Children receive portfolio-based assessments that track growth in social-emotional, cognitive, physical, language, literacy, math, science, and creative arts domains. The program emphasizes exploration, curiosity, and collaboration, and maintains low child-to-teacher ratios (1:4 infants, 1:5 toddlers, 1:8 early preschool, 1:10 pre-K).

Parents are active partners through regular conferences, screenings, and access to wrap-around United Community services including ESL courses, job training, healthcare, and food assistance.

• Tuition is all-inclusive, covering meals, snacks, activities, field trips, and screenings. • Daily nutritious meals and snacks with fresh produce are provided. • Enrollment requires a $100 registration fee; childcare vouchers are accepted. • Tours are offered Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m. • Part-time and full-time schedules are available with rates varying by age group.
