Girl Power!

About This Camp
Get ready for a week of epic empowerment, where girls learn about real-life female heroes from history. From running and jumping like Wilma Rudolph to making and cracking codes like Hedy Lamar, campers will explore measurement, multiplication, estimation and more. Campers dive into activities that define "girl power" by exploring the deepest depths of the ocean with Sylvia Earle and the incredible distance of the moon with Katherine Johnson. Through each lesson, campers will craft and complete projects inspired by these real-life superheroes and use fractions, ratio and proportion to create their own superhero artwork. Unleash your inner math marvel in this week of camp where Girl Power meets Brain Power!
Our camps are designed particularly for girls and gender expansive youth in order to focus on gender diversity in STEM and provide a learning environment that helps girls boost confidence, build supportive friendships, receive mentorship and become inspired by female leaders and role models. Our registration process allows you to select female, male, non-binary/gender nonconforming or prefer not to say on the application. We would never forbid any camper from joining our program; however we do know that some children may not feel entirely comfortable with our content. Campers who are on the spectrum of gender including those who identify as transgender, agender, non-binary, or are questioning their gender are welcome to join us at Girls Rock Math.
Daily Schedule:
PM Extended Day includes recess, snack, stories, games and STEM activities
What to Bring to Camp
Backpack: We ask that each child bring only one backpack that contains her lunch, outerwear and any other personal items. We will not have space for each child to bring multiple bags or loose belongings.
Shoes: All campers need to wear sneakers or closed-toe sandals such as Keens. If your child cannot tie her own shoes please send her in slip on tennis shoes or shoes with Velcro
Nut-free Lunch/Snack: Please ensure your child is able to open and close any containers, bags or jars. As we will be eating outdoors all lunches need to be waste-free. Please send food in reusable containers. With any and all food waste and packaging we will ask campers to "pack it in, pack it out." We do recommend using a frozen water bottle as an ice pack to keep food cold and provide a cool afternoon drink! Please be sure to send both a lunch and a snack. Campers who participate in Extended Care need an additional snack.
Water Bottle: Please send a full 32-oz water bottle to camp to ensure your camper has enough water to drink throughout the day.
Sunscreen: We require all campers to have and wear sunscreen at camp. Please apply sunscreen before camp starts. Please label your child's sunscreen and make sure she knows where it is in her bag and how to apply it herself. We will ask that girls apply sunscreen to face, legs and arms and teach our youngest campers how to apply sunscreen on their own. Girls Rock Math staff will not apply sunscreen on a child's body.
Camp Fees and Payments:
All camp fees are based on enrollment, not attendance. Please see our cancellation policy for more details on specific scenarios where your camper may miss days of camp.
*The 5 installment payment plan is only available through March 1. After March 1st, the payment amount will be equally split between the remaining months.
A $75 non-refundable deposit is included in each week's camp fees and ensures your spot in the program. The $75 non-refundable deposit per camp session is not refundable in any situation.
Health & Safety Policies:
All Girls Rock Math employees are required to hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification. Additionally, all employees receive Anaphylaxis/EpiPen training and abuse prevention training. Employees are trained in Abuse Prevention and undergo a criminal background check and reference check prior to training for their position at Girls Rock Math.
It is of the upmost importance that campers are safe at Girls Rock Math. State Designated camper-to-staff ratios are always maintained and no camper is to be left alone with a single staff member. When transitioning to and from recess, staff conduct head counts and supervise boundaries when outdoors. Adults must be authorized and use a password to pick up children at the end of the day. Unknown adults, even with a password must show photo ID.
Counselors and staff are never allowed in the bathroom stalls with children, and all children must be toilet trained. If your child is prone to accidents, please send extra clothing and ensure your child is able to clean and dress herself.
If a child is in 5th grade or higher, they may sign themselves out of camp and walk home providing you have completed the Camper Walk Home Consent form and turned it into the camp staff on the first day of camp.
Extended Day hours:
AM Care offered 8:30-9:30 Monday-Friday and PM Care offered 3:30-5:30 Monday-Thursday. Please note that all campers must be picked up on Friday by 3:30 pm as we do not offer PM Care on Friday afternoons. Drop-in care is available if space allows, payable by Venmo, cash or check.
