Overview

Students will design and build their own projects in this four-week workshop. Each week will include new cardboard engineering concepts and practice with tool use, as well as time spent on designing and working on individual projects in our makerspace, with support and guidance from Bakken Museum educators and volunteer mentors. At the end of the four weeks, friends and family are invited to our Big Show, where students present their innovations and share their challenges and wins from the program.

Young Makers Session:

• Ages: 7–8 (Grades 2–3)
• Dates: Four Saturdays | January 10 – 31
• Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Cost: $200; $180 for household and supporting members

Inventors Club (Six-Week Workshop):

• Dates: Six Saturdays | February 7 – March 14
• Cost: $260, $225 for household and supporting members | SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

Morning Session (Six-Week Workshop):

• Ages: 9-12 (grades 4-6)
• Time: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Afternoon Session (Six-Week Workshop):

• Ages: 12-14+ (grades 6-9+)
• Time: 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Inventors Club (Spring - April 15-May 20):

• Grades: 4-9
• During the first two weeks of this workshop, students are introduced to engineering concepts. Over the remaining four weeks, students use their new knowledge and guidance from Bakken Museum educators and volunteers to build a unique take-home project.

Inventors Club (Winter - February 11, 18, 25, March 4, 11, 18):

• Grades: 4-9
• During Inventors Club, students ages 9 through 12 join us on six consecutive Saturdays to build an innovation of their own design. Kids will learn to use tools, coding, and technology to make, improve, and show off their projects.

Inventors Club (Winter - Starts February 10):

• Grades: 6-9
• Students will design and build a unique project in the museum's makerspace during this six-week workshop. The first two weeks will be spent introducing students to a new engineering concept or technology. The remaining four weeks are dedicated to students working on individual projects with Bakken Museum educators' and volunteer mentors' support and guidance.
