About This Camp

ITAV offers the gold standard in early childhood development with an unmatched academic focus. Our schools are a place where children are treasured. Eager learners are encouraged to take the next step, to ask the next question, and to discover the next truth. We recognize that each child has unique talents, learning styles, and personalities. Our curriculum for ages 3 to 5 skillfully weaves artistic and practical disciplines into everyday academics. At ITAV, preschoolers learn to follow their curiosity, to think creatively, and to work both independently and cooperatively with others. The program utilizes the Creative Curriculum for Preschool, fostering a nurturing, safe, child-centered environment where children lead based on their natural curiosity. This approach, combined with intentional teaching practices, provides the opportunity for five-year-olds to leave our center with the skills necessary to succeed in elementary school. The curriculum includes a Math component (Engage NY) covering numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, sorting, number stories, charts, and measuring tools through intentional hands-on experiences. Science encourages students to explore the world around them while introducing them to science concepts and vocabulary, integrated into daily activities and thematic units. The Social Justice Curriculum is dedicated to providing a sound understanding of the world and an appreciation for the rich diversity of humankind, reflecting an age-appropriate, multidimensional, and project-based approach to the study of people and the land, using the framework of Identity, Diversity, Justice, and Action. To enhance the program, preschoolers attend monthly field trips related to the monthly theme, participate in karate to learn self-control, participate in Spanish activities to improve language development, participate in both visual and performing arts, and receive visits from community helpers such as firemen, police, librarians, state representatives, and aldermen to expand their worldview. The program is designed to work with children who have diagnosed learning differences in collaboration with their teachers and families, providing individualized remediation, modifications, accommodations, and/or consultative services through partnership with Chicago Public Schools and DFSS. ITAV is proud to partner with Head Start, offering high-quality early childhood education, health services, and family support to help children thrive, creating a strong foundation for lifelong learning and success. Our education team is extensively trained in early childhood and all have Bachelors or Masters degrees in teaching. Our teachers, along with our Family Support Specialists, use a team-based approach to customize their teaching methods and content to tailor to each child's strengths and interests.
