The Junior Counselor (JC) Program is a fantastic opportunity for pre-teens who have aged out of our regular camp programs to develop leadership skills, gain hands-on experience, and have fun while making a difference! Junior Counselors take on a dedicated role, enjoy a customized experience tailored to their interests and strengths, and are paired with a JCP Liaison—a friendly camp staff member who provides mentorship, helps them assess risks, and supports their leadership development. They also wear an exclusive Junior Counselor shirt while at camp. JCs commit to at least 3 hours per day, ideally for a week, but the program will work with family schedules. Roles include: Sewing Room Consultant (teaching crochet, hand sewing, pom-pom making, restocking/organizing supplies, assisting during snack/lunch); Outdoor Game Lead (organizing outdoor games, explaining rules, coaching younger campers, restocking/maintaining play supplies, assisting during snack/lunch); Project Supervisor (assisting staff with art, science, cooking, special activities like foam parties, giving tours, helping set up/run/clean projects, restocking/organizing supply room, assisting during snack/lunch); and HQ (organizing paperwork, supplies, mascot prizes, managing board game checkouts, teaching campers to play, restocking stations like Art Lab, Rainbow Loom, Origami, assisting during snack/lunch). The program aims to give teens the best tools to grow, lead, and thrive.
