Overview

Students will discover the interaction between magnetism and electricity through hands-on experiments and demonstrations. This entertaining workshop allows students an opportunity to explore a robust collection of magnets and magnetic forces as well as the mechanics and use of electromagnets. Bakken educators will introduce participants to current-day innovators who are still discovering new ways to understand magnets and electricity today.

  • Grades: 3-6
  • Academic Standards: Supports Minnesota Academic Standards in Science: 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 4.1.1. Supports Minnesota Academic Benchmarks in Science: 4P.1.1.1.1, 4P.1.1.2.1, 5P.1.2.1.2, 5P.3.1.1 1, 8P.1.1.1.2, 8P.1.2.1.3. All workshops and tours support Academic Science Standards.
  • Offsite Programs: If you can't come to The Bakken Museum, educators can be brought to you. Visit the Assembly and Residencies page or Workshops page for details and availability.
  • Cost: $220 first program, $120 each additional on the same day.
  • Museum Hours: Tuesday - Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
