Overview

The Meadowbrook program is extremely creative…always changing…and customized around 8 Weekly Themes that change each year. Meadowbrook offers a "traditional" Day Camp program which includes a wide variety of athletic, aquatic, ropes and nature activities. Our program is carefully designed to include not only all the traditional Camp activities, but unique ones as well, such as Bumper Boats, Mountain Boards, Fishing, an amazing High & Low Ropes Course, Earth/Wind & Fire and our Game Room (featuring all Camper friendly games and free play). We also boast an outstanding Teen Travel Program for Campers entering grades 7-9, which combines travel with a traditional day-camp experience.

Each Camp day includes 10 periods. Campers are grouped by school grade, and our program is designed to provide the right mix of activities on appropriately sized facilities. As Campers get older, their daily schedule evolves to include additional activities that challenge their newly acquired abilities and improving skill levels. For example, starting with Campers entering 2nd grade, there is a double "Choice Period" each day where Campers choose the activity in which they want to participate.

Our goal at Meadowbrook is to create the best possible Camp Community in which children can thrive. We believe Camp is a place where children have the opportunity to try new activities, learn valuable life skills, take on new challenges, increase their self-esteem and grow socially and emotionally in a safe, nurturing, fun environment. We accomplish this through our intentional program emphasizing exciting, age and developmentally appropriate, activities.

Our Meadowbrook Program is focused primarily on helping our Campers learn and practice valuable life skills. These include independence, resilience, perseverance, goal-setting, responsible risk-taking, making friends, sportsmanship, creative problem solving and so many more. These are skills that our Campers will develop during their Summers at Meadowbrook and take with them throughout their lives, and they are proven life skills that lead to a happier, more successful and fulfilled future.

Many visitors to Camp compare it to the facilities that are typically seen only at overnight Camps. The beautiful wooded campus provides natural shade in many areas. We supplement nature with tented structures throughout Camp to provide an additional break from the sun. Water and sunscreen stations are strategically located around Camp to provide a safe, comfortable experience for our Campers.

Additional Information

Meadowbrook's Waterfront program offers Campers a variety of activities in our 3 heated pools and one of our two lakes. Our Swim program follows the Red Cross skill level program. Your child's daily schedule will always include instructional swim in the morning and free swim in the afternoon. Our 9,000 square foot pool complex includes 3 heated pools for a variety of swim activities. Our Boating program, on our own private lake, features Canoes, Kayaks, Power Paddlers, Pedal Boats, and everyone's favorite: Bumper Boats!

Each and every week is filled with innovative special events which match our 8 weekly themes, including the famous Meadowbrook Dance Show. Campers also get to experience our annual "Color War", Blue vs. Yellow in which all camp participates.

Door-to-Door Transportation Transportation has to be fun! Door-to-door transportation is included in tuition.

What are the hours of Camp? The Camp day goes from 9am - 4pm. Before Care is available starting at 7:30am and After Care is available until 6pm.There is no transportation for the Before and After Care programs.

Will my child learn to swim? Swimming is a very important life skill that we focus on at Meadowbrook. Each Camper swims at least twice daily. All Campers up through our 6th Grade Campers have a swim lesson every morning.Our 27 Lifeguards plus 3 Waterfront Directors utilize the Red Cross Swim Program to teach all of our Campers to Swim. Our parents rave about the swim progress their Campers make at Meadowbrook!

What do you do in the rain? We have pre-set rainy day schedules that utilize our extensive indoor and covered areas. These schedules feature fun activities that we don't do on regular days, like Karaoke, Dance Parties, Game Shows, and Special Arts & Crafts. Some older Campers may leave Camp for the movies or bowling, but as part of our focus on age and developmentally appropriate activities, Campers up through 4th Grade never leave Camp there are so many fun indoor activities, they don't have to!

How will my Camper get back and forth to Camp? Meadowbrook tuition includes door-to-door transportation on state inspected and air-conditioned mini-yellow school buses. School buses are the safest way for children to travel. All of our buses are driven by state licensed CDL Bus Drivers that are Meadowbrook Employees! This ensures that they have been hired, trained, and background checked by us, and they are accountable to us for operating a safe and fun bus ride to Camp each and every day.There is also a Bus Counselor on board who is responsible for organizing fun games and exciting bus events each every day.

Swim Instruction Our Swim Instruction Program is based on the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. To maximize learning, we have modified the Red Cross Program to provide 2-3 "sub-levels" at each Red Cross level. On the first day of Camp, all new Campers will be evaluated to determine their Red Cross Skill Level for Swim Instruction purposes. Returning Campers will begin Swim Instruction at the level where they ended the previous summer. Swim Instructors will send home a Swim Report several times during the summer indicating the child's swim progress in our Swim Instruction program.

General Swim All Campers will receive a colored wristband indicating their Free Swim level. These bands are worn each day during their group's Free Swim period and clearly indicate to our Lifeguards and Campers where each Camper can safely swim based on their current swimming ability. Initial Swim Bands are based on current Red Cross Levels. Red Band Level 1 and Level 2 (shallow water) Green Band Level 3 (middle section) Blue Band Level 4 thru Level 6 (deep water)

TINY TOONS Pre-K – Kindergarten For our youngest campers, it's imperative that we help them develop a love of camp right from the start.

MAIN CAMP 1st Grade – 6th Grade Main Camp is geared towards campers entering 1st through 6th grades and each age has customized programming which includes a diverse group of activities.

TRAVEL 7th Grade – 9th Grade Campers entering 7th through 9th grades are part of our unique Travel Program, combining an in-camp experience with out of camp trips, including overnights.

SWIM Our focus is not only on learning and honing proper swim skills, but also on becoming "water safe."

Entering 1st Grade Campers entering 1st Grade are in a transition group from our Tiny Toons program. Boy and girl Campers are in separate groups, but they each still have 3 Counselors per group including female Senior Counselors for both the boys and girls groups. New activities added to the program for 1st graders include Wonder Works, Boating, Game Room and 1st Grade Choice. Swim instruction remains individualized and is offered in 1 of our 3 heated pools. Red Cross certified Lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors provide expert learning experiences for Campers. An afternoon recreational swim allows Campers to have fun in our aquatic complex including safe, enclosed water slides. A unique aspect of Meadowbrook's program is a team of specialists who teach all Athletic, Nature, Ropes, Performing and Creative Arts Programs and who incorporate fun and accomplishment into each Camper's skill development.

Entering 2nd Grade Meadowbrook's 2nd Grade Campers are in our Freshman Division. Athletic and Aquatic skills continue to grow as our 2nd graders use facilities that are larger in scale, although still meet individual needs. Second grade is another important transition year at Meadowbrook as these Campers add many new activities such as Archery, Mountain Boarding and Mountain Biking. Meadowbrook's amazing High Ropes Course and Climbing Tower focus on goal-setting and individual Camper accomplishments. Our 2nd grade groups are also introduced to Meadowbrook's choice program, where Campers have a double choice period each day where they choose their own activity. Our same excellent communication home continues with our Freshman Division.

Entering 3rd - 4th Grade The Meadowbrook program continues to evolve and skills continue to grow as Campers transition to our largest fields and courts. Team sports are an important part of the Camp experience at this age, where skills in sports such as Hockey, Softball, Soccer, Lacrosse and Basketball are set into motion through organized and fun-filled instruction and game play. In addition to two group Counselors for each group, Meadowbrook's unique approach of having specialists at all Creative AND Athletic activities ensures a low Camper to Counselor ratio throughout Camp. Bonfire Cooking is introduced to all 3rd Grade Groups. Our 3rd & 4th Grade Boys start a sports leagues program at this age. Our 3rd Grade Campers have their first Late Night and our entering 4th Graders have 2 Late Nights during the Summer. Our 4th Grade Girls begin a highly creative Jewelry Making activity. Our exciting Choice Program continues at this age offering Campers the independence to choose their weekly Choice Activity that they will participate in for a daily double period. Achievement tags are introduced for our 3rd & 4th Graders offering them a unique opportunity to practice the life skill of goal-setting.

Entering 5th-6th Grade Our Young Adventurers Division continues to participate in many Meadowbrook favorites such as Archery, Tennis, Fishing, Cooking, Chocolate, Boating, Mountain Boarding and Mountain Biking. The Creative and Performing Arts play an important part in the schedules for our YA girls. All of the girls groups also participate in the Meadowbrook Dance Show during the 6th week of Camp. Meadowbrook's High Ropes Course and Climbing Tower focus on individual Camper accomplishments. Just with all Main Camp Divisions, our Young Adventurers play an important part in all of MCDC creative weekly themes and special events. In addition to a daily double choice period, our Young Adventurers have a Daily Clubs Period which offers them another elective period in their schedule. Campers in 5th & 6th Grade participate in two Late Night programs each Summer. An exciting element that is added to the Young Adventurers program is four scheduled out of Camp trips during the Summer to such exciting places as Tomahawk Lake Water Park, Powerhouse Studios, Indoor Laser Tag, and more fun locations! In the unlikely event of rain, they may also travel out of Camp as part of our creative rainy day program. Parents of our older Campers are kept informed of their child's progress in Camp through our bi-weekly Meadow Grams, Swim Reports, weekly Meadow View Newsletter, and direct contact with the Division Head. Visiting Day for our Young Adventurer Campers is at night in conjunction with our Family Late Night. Our website is also constantly updated throughout the Summer with pictures from the Camp day.

Travel Camp Campers entering 7th, 8th and 9th grades participate in Meadowbrook's unique Travel Program. The Travel Program is a creative combination of Day Camp activities and out-of-camp trips. Campers are divided into three groups based on age: Tween Travel for Campers entering 7th grade, Teen Travel for Campers entering 8th grade and Supers for Campers entering 9th grade. The Tween Travel generally spend 3 days per week in Camp and two days per week traveling while our Teen Traveler and Supers typically travel 3 days per week with 2 days spent in Camp. The 9th grade program also includes 4 elective trips throughout the Summer where Campers can learn new skills such as kayaking, paddle boarding, yoga, golf, bowling and others!

2018 7th Grade Tween Optional Overnight Trips Tuesday, July 10 - Thursday, July 12 (3 Day) HERSHEY PARK AND TUBING $495 The trip begins with an early drop-off at Meadowbrook at 7:30 AM on Tuesday. We will leave camp on a luxurious Air-Conditioned Charter Bus and head for the Challenge Family Fun Center before we check-in at our Hotel. We then head to Chocolate World where we will eat dinner, see a 3-D Movie and enjoy the Chocolate World Tour. On our second day, we will be thrilled by the rides and attractions of Hershey Park. We will spend day three tubing down the Delaware River before returning to Camp for a late pick-up at 6:00 PM.
