Discover classical music and music literacy! A music appreciation class for kids. Activities are deeply rooted in music theory and designed to help children develop critical listening skills and prepare children for instrument lessons and formal music instruction, while having a ton of fun in the process! This class features classical music by historic and famous composers, and introduces students to the elements of music including melody, rhythm, dynamics, tempo, timbre, harmony, expression and creativity, etc. Students learn music literacy and music history through physical movement activities, listening activities, games, singing, dancing, rhythm instruments, storytime, and art. This class features curriculum developed and used exclusively by The Music Playhouse of Chicago.
