About This Camp
Our curriculum integrates all subject areas, including math, ELA, science, social studies, SEL, and hands‑on nature exploration.
Little Roots Academy offers a seasonal, outdoor, part‑time micro‑school experience that supports families in their educational journey. Learning blends academics with play in a nurturing environment where children connect, grow, and thrive.
Limited to 12 students to ensure personalized attention, with a 2:12 teacher‑to‑student ratio.
Monthly nature‑based themes aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning, alongside child‑led exploration and inquiry.
Integrated Areas of Focus Math: Number sense, patterning, geometry, measurement through hands‑on exploration Science: Seasons, weather, living systems, sensory observation, inquiry‑based learning Language Arts: Listening, speaking, storytelling, comprehension, and early phonological awareness Social Studies: Community, cooperation, family, and respect for the Earth as our shared home Music and Art: Singing, rhythm, creative expression through color, texture, and form Health and Physical Education: Gross and fine motor development, outdoor play, nutrition, mindfulness Approaches to Learning: Curiosity, persistence, initiative, focus, cooperation Social and Emotional Development: Friendship, empathy, resilience, self‑expression, emotional awareness
This is a part‑time program offering 8–15 hours per week, depending on age group. It is designed to complement family‑led education and does not replace full‑time schooling.
Outdoor picnic lunch followed by unstructured play in the garden or play area Opportunities to practice independence, social awareness, and turn‑taking Time to nourish the body and connect with friends through conversation and imaginative play A deposit is required to hold your child's place.
