CYC's Out-of-School Time (OST) Enrichment program serves children ages 6-18, offering them a creative outlet to explore interests and build upon classroom knowledge while keeping them safe during critical afterschool hours. CYC's existing program operates with a club-based model wherein school-age children and teens enroll in afterschool and summer programming for 3 hours a day, five days a week, for up to 48 weeks a year. Our ever-changing world requires young people to be equipped with strong social-emotional skills. These skills are embedded in our daily interactions and curriculum. Practicing these competencies today helps children build bright futures for themselves, their families, and our communities. The program includes robust STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Music) with activities like IT networking, coding, electrical engineering, robotics, biology, and life sciences, often taking place in the CYC Maker Lab. It also focuses on Health and Wellness, providing nutritious meals and snacks, nutrition education, physical fitness, and programs like Hip Hop and Ballet Dance, Martial Arts, Culinary, and Sports and Recreation. Academic Support is provided through project-based learning opportunities that fuse academics with non-cognitive skill development (communication, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity), and daily homework help from 3-4 PM. College and Career Readiness components guide youth and families through test preparation, high school course selection, financial aid, college application essays, campus visits, and ongoing virtual support for college students. Family Engagement is also a key aspect, offering workshops, mentoring, and one-on-one meetings with parents to support children's academic progress and connect families to social service and health providers.
