Our visual arts program stresses activities that focus on making art in a positive, engaging, hands-on environment. Using age-appropriate projects, we will stimulate perception, hand-eye coordination, and language skills. Infants (15-minute lessons) develop fine motor skills, explore various mediums and sensory tables, and are introduced to new textures. One-year-olds (20-minute lessons) continue building fine motor skills using fingerpaint and brushes, build gross motor skills by sitting up and grasping materials, explore new mediums like pencils, crayons, and markers, and participate in cleanup. Two-year-olds (30-minute lessons) learn to create more textural contrast, hone fine motor skills using sensory items like cotton balls and Q-tips while painting, and develop self-expression. Three-to five-year-olds (30-minute lessons) utilize materials such as glue and safety scissors for more challenging projects like puppets, self-portraits, and 3D animals, and use advanced mediums to develop hand-eye coordination and understanding of concepts like shapes, counting, and spatial reasoning.
