Overview

The Reymundo School of Music offers private, weekly music lessons for all ages and skill levels across a broad range of instruments and voice, serving the Herndon, Reston, Sterling, and Ashburn areas of Northern Virginia. Lessons are conducted either in the student's home or virtually via Zoom, eliminating commute time and allowing students to focus on learning. Instruments taught include piano, guitar, beginning violin, beginning viola, ukulele, and voice. Additional offerings include live performance coaching, songwriting and music composition, music theory, and sound reinforcement and recording. The school's curriculum is structured around semester-based instruction with mandatory yearly assessments modeled after university-level juries.

Additional Information

Each student's instruction begins with an individual assessment covering sight reading, music theory, rhythm, performance, and ear training. Annual core requirements include rhythm training, sight reading, ear training, music theory (notation, scales and chords, essentials of harmony), ensemble work where applicable, formal assessment, and an optional end-of-spring recital. Lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes per week. The school recommends 45 to 60 minute sessions for students over age 10 or those who practice consistently. Weekly rates are $50 for 30-minute lessons, $70 for 45-minute lessons, and $75 for 60-minute lessons. Prepaying four lessons reduces the per-lesson cost by $5. Some months with five weeks require an additional lesson payment.
