Throughout the year, Ovation Academy produces up to 8 full-scale musical productions with students ages 6-18. Students rehearse twice or three times weekly as they work to construct a 30-60 minute musical performance. As they go through the process and experience what it takes to produce a musical, students will hone their fundamental musical theater skills – singing, dancing, and acting – while gaining the confidence necessary to take the stage in front of an audience. This program is perfect for students with prior experience, as well as students who are ready to jump right into the exciting world of musical theater for the first time! Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona's love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way…
