Skating After School Program

Skating After School is a multi-week program designed for City students, offering skating instruction, skate use, transportation between school and The Boston Common Frog Pond, and a healthy snack. Participants enjoy an afternoon of outdoor skating in one of Boston's finest outdoor spaces. Additionally, students receive a season pass to the Boston Common Frog Pond and a one-year membership to U.S. Figure Skating. Skating lessons are provided by top skating coaches from The Skating Club of Boston®. Sponsored largely by Friends of the Public Garden, the program aims to expose students to the pleasure and discipline of learning a new sport, the value of exercise and good nutrition, and the experience of being outdoors in America's oldest and most treasured public park. The Skating Club of Boston operates this program as part of its public/private partnership with the Boston Parks Department to manage and promote year-round activities at the Boston Common Frog Pond. Many professional skating coaches from The Skating Club of Boston volunteer their time to instruct the students. The program is also supported by The Friends of the Public Garden.
