String Orchestra Program in Allston

Age Eligibility
Age Eligibility
Boston String Academy started a string orchestra program in 2013 in partnership with the Gardner Pilot Academy. The program is now located at Saint Anthony Parish, and it is open to all students in Allston and nearby communities. The program currently serves nearly 60 students from the Allston/Brighton communities, grades k-6. Every week, students attend three days of group instruction in addition to a weekly private or semi-private lesson. We use different methods and techniques of string pedagogy, including the Colourstrings method, combined with ear training, music theory, and solfege singing. Our unique approach nurtures every child's potential, guiding them to reach their highest levels of musical excellence. In 2024, the Pre-Junior ensemble of our Allston program was showcased on CityLine, a weekly public affairs program on WCVB, Channel 5. Boston String Academy offers students the opportunity to attend professional performances in the Boston area, such as those given by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic, Celebrity Series of Boston, A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, Handel and Haydn Society, Cherry Street Music, among others. Our flagship programs include participation in Masterclasses, Festivals & Collaborations.
