Overview

The Strings Program at NoVa Youth Ensembles provides young string musicians with the opportunity to rehearse and perform in one of three orchestras—Concert Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra. Students develop technique, ensemble skills, and musical expression while preparing exciting repertoire for public performances. All students who meet the minimum audition requirements are accepted. Weekly rehearsals begin on Saturdays starting September 19th, 2026 at The Music Loft locations in Herndon and Ashburn.

Audition Requirements

• Violin: D Major scale (1–2 octaves) or G Major scale (1–2 octaves) memorised. • Viola: G Major scale (1–2 octaves) or C Major scale (1–2 octaves) memorised. • Cello: G Major scale (1–2 octaves) or C Major scale (1–2 octaves) memorised. • Bass: D Major scale (1 octave) memorised. • Symphonic Orchestra: any 2-octave major scale demonstrating 3rd or 4th position shifting and a solo of choice. • Chamber Orchestra: any 3-octave major scale (violin, viola, cello) or 2-octave scale (bass) plus a solo at Suzuki level 6 or equivalent.

Additional Information

Tuition is $97 per month. Scholarship options are available. Rehearsals are held in-person at The Music Loft, 585 Grove St Suite 310, Herndon and 20915 Ashburn Rd Suite 210, Ashburn.
