"Hats off!" to art in this unique camp "wear" we'll go beyond traditional textiles with wearable designs and creations inspired by unconventional materials. Beginning with foundational skills and easy assembly techniques like weaving, gluing, and sewing (on machines and by hand), we'll use natural materials and found objects to create unique textiles, sculptural hats, felted bags, and more! We'll use recycled materials to create our own versions of haute couture looks pulled from the runways. We'll fine-tune our perception as we create handmade wearable art pieces based on our experience of the five senses. We'll look at the fashion design industry from beginning to end, from illustrated mood boards to pattern making to garment construction, to help us create simple, wearable pieces they'll want to wear every day. Our students will really make a statement by wearing their own creations - with these quirky projects they'll become walking works of art!
